Message from the General Manager:

In the last year the Virgin Valley Water District Board of Directors and I shifted District priorities from rapid expansion toward accountability, controlling costs, and maintaining reliability.  I’m proud of the positive changes we have made.  Our ever-solid staff continues to provide the friendly and dedicated service they have always delivered.

Now that stability has been achieved for the water district, we are shifting focus to the future.  Most everyone in the Virgin Valley believes that our special area still can host healthy development and growth.  That will take a lot more than affordable and adequate water, but without it, nothing will succeed.

That is why we believe it is now our duty to assess what the sustainable levels of water production are for this Lower Virgin River Hydrographic Basin (Basin 222), where all of our drinking water originates and is drawn.  The boundaries of this basin are determined by mountain ranges, not political lines!  It includes land in 2 Nevada counties as well as Arizona and Utah.  Mutual long-term success and stability can only come if all water uses in this finite “pool” are considered for the collective good.

With smart planning we can keep future water connection and use costs low.  That will also help to retain and attract businesses and residents here.  Working together we will create an exciting and healthy future.
